Activities
We have a wide range of activities on offer at our school. Take a look below and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
Sport
We believe that all children should get the opportunity to experience and enjoy a variety of sports. Children enjoy a varied PE program while they also gain the benefit of some outside coaching from GAA, Basketball, Rugby and Athletics coaches.
We have close links with the local football, rugby, basketball, soccer and athletics clubs and we are very fortunate that we are within walking distance of all of them.
We participate in Cumann na mBunscoil, Tag Rugby, Basketball, FAI 5 a-side and Athletics events. We also run our own internal school leagues throughout the year.
We are the proud holders of an Active School Flag and we realise the benefits the children gain from regular daily exercise.
Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Each pupil is assigned a level based on an assessment, he chooses a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace. Over time it helps children develop their confidence and literacy skills. When finished, the pupil takes a short quiz on the computer - passing the quiz is an indication that the pupil has understood what has been read. Accelerated Reader gives both children and teachers feedback based on the quiz results which the teacher then uses to help the child set targets and plan ongoing reading practice, for example remaining on the same level for another while or progressing to a higher level.

Maths Recovery
Maths Recovery offers a unique approach to extending children’s number knowledge, understanding and strategies. This programme offers an opportunity to assess children’s maths skills and provides a framework for individual, group or class-based instruction which is suitable not only for pupils who are experiencing difficulties but also for average and more able children.
